A Baby Boomer, Two Dogs and a Camera

Well, this has been an unusually chaotic week for me and I‘m afraid that my end of the 30/30 Challenge has suffered a bit. Fortunately, thanks to my hubby, my dog’s end has not languished (VBP). In fact, with the added assistance of my grandson’s Great Dane, Daphne, Y has been kept very busy and very well exercised.

Twice this week, Y-Bo and I were invited to Daphne’s house for play dates. Thinking that this might be a great opportunity to take some fabulous action photos of the pups at play, I took my camera with me. Like always, the dogs were ecstatic to see each other and began romping, wrestling and jumping the instant they hit the backyard. And so eager was I to get a snapshot of their fervent(VBP) greeting, I didn’t even stop to cover the pTiny pTerodactyl in a flurry of grandma kisses before I followed the dogs outside.

DSCN1082 (1157x1280)Alas, this is the best ‘action’ shot I could get. Apparently my unexpected presence startled them to the point of non-play. In an attempt to get them back on track, I threw balls, I danced about pretending to join their frolicking, to no avail. They just stood there drinking water and giving me doggie versions of ‘stink eye’, until I was so intimidated that I went back inside. THEN, those silly mutts returned to their rambunctious play. I tried to sneak out again, camera at the ready. But naturally, they smelled me, quit playing, and immediately put those big proboscises (VBP) to the ground.

DSCN1087 (1050x1204)I gave up, I was getting cold anyway and in dire need of a few pTiny pTerodactyl hugs. Which, by the way, are far better to get than any ole dog pictures!

This is Saturday Pet Blog Hop. And my entry to the very first Vocabulary Building Project Blog Hop! Click on either icon to get the details.

About Loy Cerf

After many years of writing short romance story for magazines and being published in several anthology books, most notably the Adams Media Cup of Comfort series, I decided to start my own blog. Though I'm Ohio born and raised, I've called the Chicago suburbs home for most of my adult life. Married to the same guy for over 40 years, yikes, indeed, we've got two grown kids, one pTiny pTerodactyl grandson, two cats and one big dog. Currently we have no fish and are not in the market for any.

  2. Sometimes, kitties or doggies just don’t want to have their pictures taken, like some humans ;-)
Thanks for your participation in the VBP Blog Hop! Great entry!

Um, well, camera shyness isn’t a problem here… :P I’m glad the dogs had fun, even if they weren’t cooperating with the camera!

  4. It’s funny how they know we are watching isn’t it? I know some dogs that are actually afraid of cameras. I admire the professional pet photographers who can get “natural” poses and great shots of them playing and just being themselves. I am not sure what they trick is besides patience :)

blah, blah, blah “but my dog’s end has not languished. (VBP)”

Yes, Y-Bo can take some Very Big Poops.
