Silly Stuff That This Baby Boomer Loves

Friday Fill-In Time! Thanks to Hilary at Feeling Beachie for hosting. As always, my answers to the four questions are underlined.

1. My first car was a dark blue, 1968 Chevy II Nova that my Dad and I bought together…he traded in his rusty VW Beetle and paid something like $3500 in cash while I laid out a whopping  $.37 in pennies. And that car was worth every cent!

2. My computer is so old that I am planning to go out and buy a new one today. Really.

3. I would drop everything to go on a 70+ day ocean voyage around the world and then come home, do my laundry (cause my clothes would be excessively dirty by then) and hop aboard another cushy cruise ship and spend another 70+ day going from Pole to Pole.

4. I never tell people I once wanted to be a stock car racer or a long-haul truck driver. Fortunately, I met my Jersey Squeeze and within three years became a roadway terror in a station wagon. Well, at least in my fantasies!

About Loy Cerf

After many years of writing short romance story for magazines and being published in several anthology books, most notably the Adams Media Cup of Comfort series, I decided to start my own blog. Though I'm Ohio born and raised, I've called the Chicago suburbs home for most of my adult life. Married to the same guy for over 40 years, yikes, indeed, we've got two grown kids, one pTiny pTerodactyl grandson, two cats and one big dog. Currently we have no fish and are not in the market for any.

What kind of puter are you going to buy? I just spent this whole week with lots of down time due to a broken video card. It had me trying to read between long curtains of pixels. My puter is still good though…I hope. My friend had a dark blue Nova that ran like a champ. Have a nice weekend.

I would love to add another cruise to our list as well. We are actually doing a total of 70 days this year. Our longest is a 42 transatlantic from Fort Lauderdale Florida to Rome and back on Holland America, Masdam this October. We got the trip for less than $100 a day.

Oh, Judy!!! I am sooooooooooooo jealous!! What a fabulous time you’ll have. Those trans-oceanic voyages are my favorite. AND what a price you got for it! Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Chevy Nova holds a few memories for me, too, but completely different ones. ;-)
    2. Are you getting a laptop? I’m very happy with the Toshiba Satellite P750, in case you’re looking for recommendations.
    3. You’re also a travel buff! Nothing like it. ♥
    4. “Roadway terror in a station wagon”. LOL – great phrase!
Have a good weekend, Loy :-)

    • Loy Cerf says:

Oh, hope your memories were pleasant ones! That Nova was a great car! I ended up with an ASUS laptop. I’ll let you know if it’s any good! LOL I love traveling…especially by ship. Glad you liked the phrase!

  4. Susi says:

I can’t believe you’d go on cruises this long, especially with all the problems some cruise ships seem to have these days. I’d rather stay in a nice beach resort than be stuck on a ship. :)

    • Loy Cerf says:

There are some ships I wouldn’t set foot on…Carnival is one of them! Most of them are pretty safe and well-taken care of. Besides, think of the blogs I could write while stranded in the middle of some ocean, surrounded by hungry sharks and using a really archaic ‘chamber pot’ for my bathroom! LOLOLOLOL–I’ve been out computer shopping all day…I think my brain is turning to St. Paddy’s Day green jello! Thanks for stopping by!

  5. Claudia says:

I wouldn’t really care if it is a beach or 70+ day cruise – the ocean, that is where I’d love to be, too. Great no. 3! And I, too, love: Roadway terror in a station wagon – LOL

  6. Rorybore says:

A cruise sounds lovely…..but I guess don’t pick that one that keeps running ashore or getting stuck somewhere. Carnival is it?

sometimes I like to pretend I am escaping the paparrazi in my minivan — makes the weekly grocery run a little more exciting. And I love the big sunglasses :)
